MPL participates in nationwide clean-up

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) joined the nationwide clean-up initiative on Saturday.

The national program to remove litter across the country was launched by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday.

CEO of MPL Shahid Ali and senior management joined several staff of MPL on Saturday to clean the area of Male’ Commercial Harbor and Male’ North Harbor, as well as nearby areas. 



Shahid Ali appointed as CEO

Shahid Ali has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Office of Maldives Ports Limited.

Shahid previously held the position of Managing Director at State Trading Organization.


MPL Launches Port Hiya housing scheme

Maldives Ports Limited has launched the Port Hiya housing scheme, part of the governments “Hiya” project, at a ceremony held on Monday Night.

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed was the chief guest of the ceremony held at Male’ North Harbor.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Saeed said that the Hiya housing project is a very important initiative by H.E.P Abdulla Yameen’s regime to tackle the growing crisis of housing in the greater Male’ region.

CEO of MPL Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said that during the planning and organizational stages of Port Hiya project, the highest priority was always given to the affordability for MPL’s employees.

Hiya Project was launched in November 2017 by H.E.P Abdulla Yaameen, aimed at providing social housing for a population of more than 80,000 people.

Annual general meeting of 2017 held

The annual general meeting of MPL, for the financial year of 2017 was held on Sunday.

The annual general meeting was held in Hotel Jen, with senior management also in attendance.

In his speech for the annual general meeting, CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem highlighted the achievements of  2017 and projects of 2018.

“It has been a privilege and honor o have been appointed as the CEO to lead Maldives Ports Limited into the future. I am fully dedicated to guiding our company forward as we count our 31 years of exclusively providing port services in Maldives,” Haleem said.

Chairman Dr.Ali Rifau praised the efforts of CEO Haleem, management and staff during the past year.

“We remain constant with the assurance of investing in our employees to enhance their skills to ensure that our customers always receive best service,” Rifau said.

The annual general meeting was followed by a “Corporate Tharaavees” hosted by MPL for stakeholders and major customers.




Maamigilli Port inaugurated

Inauguration ceremony of Maamigilli International Port was held in Adh.Maamigilli on Wednesday.

Ministry of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed was the chief guest of the ceremony held at Maamigilli International Port. Several high level officials of government and well renowned businessmen joined the inauguration ceremony as well.

Maamigilli International Port will be the 3rd regional port of MPL. The operations of Maamigilli Port with start with handling of break bulk cargo.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, CEO of MPL Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem stated that several development plans are in place for Maamigilli Port. Developments plans include bonded warehouse, cold storage, ice plant, shipyard, yacht marina and guesthouse.

“Several developments plans are place for Maamigilli Port and these plans will be implemented in the near future,” Haleem said.



MPL took part in cleaning Male city under the program “Maa Saafu Male”.

MPL CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem and senior management along with MPL staffs actively participated in the cleaning program dubbed as “Maa Saafu Male”, which was an initiative of Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The program took place on Saturday 21st April 2018, commenced at 6 a.m. where estimated 4500 people joined to collect over 70 tons of waste from the streets of Male City.

CEO congratulates women’s futsal team

CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem has congratulated MPL’s Women’s futsal team on winning Women’s Futsal Fiesta.

MPL won the tournament for the first time by beating Police Club in the final.

During a celebration lunch organized on Saturday for the women’s team and men’s team, CEO congratulated the women’s team on their triumph and praised the performance of the team through out the tournament.

MPL was impressive throughout the tournament, scoring more than 50 goals on their way to the final.

MPL men’s team reached the semi final in Club Maldives Cup 2018, but was knocked out by Maldivian.

MPL wins Women’s Futsal Fiesta

MPL’s womens futsal team beat Police Club in the final of Women’s Futsal Fiesta  to clinch the title.

With both team level on 1-1 after full time, MPL broke the deadlock on penalties by 3-2. Goalkeeper of MPL Azam Akhondi Abadhchi made the all important save to clinch title for MPL.

This is the first time MPL has won the Women’s Futsal Fiesta. MPL was in good form throughout the tournament, scoring more than 50 goals on their way to the final.

Captain of MPL, Fathimath Shaliya, Aminath Shamila and goalkeeper Azam was named in the best five players of the tournament, while coach of MPL Ahmed Visal was named as the best coach of the tournament.

MPL reaches the final of Women’s Football Fiesta

MPL’s womens futsal team will face Police Club in the final of 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta.

After an impressive run of results in the group stages, MPL breezed through to the final’s after beating Customs Recreation Club 10-1 in the semifinal.

On their way to the final, team MPL has scored an impressive 51 goals.

Final match between MPL – Police Club will is scheduled to be played at mini ground’s on 17th April 2018, 20:30

Management team visits ADh.Maamigilli

CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem and other members of senior management has visited ADh. Maamigilli to prepare for the inauguration of Maamigilli International Port Facility.

During the one day visit, the senior team inspected the Maamigilli International Port Facility, and planned for the inauguration of Mamigilli port.

Inauguration of Maamigilli Port is scheduled for 2nd May 2018.

Maamigilli International Port Facility is a strategic port located in the hospitality center of Ari Atoll. Mamigilli port is adequate for immediate operations of vessels size 700DWT and below with ample land for storage and handling loose cargo.
