Youth Challenge 2018

With the initiation of Ministry of Youth, ‘Youth Challenge 2018’ has been inaugurated at Dharubaaruge with complete 88 stoles from different business industries.This includes a stole from Maldives Ports Limited, through which provides range of information with intention of keeping the youth interested to the relevant sector. It also provides information regarding port related courses that are conducted via its training department aiming to provide port related knowledge.

The event is held at Dharubaaruge and would continue until three days. Stoles would be opened everyday at 4 pm to till 11 pm, commencing from 8th February 2018.

According to Ministry of Youth, the main aim of conducting “Youth Challenge” is to provide job opportunities for the Maldivian Youth while also providing information about the educational opportunities that are provided by different businesses. It also aims to provide a promotional platform for new products and beginners who are new to the Maldivian business industry.

Maldives Ports Limited’s operations during State of Emergency

MPL futsal tournament kicks off

MPL Port Club futsal tournament 2018 has kicked off on Friday (26th January 2018).

The opening ceremony of the tournament was held on Friday Night, with Assistant CEO Rabih Mohamed as the chief guest.

A total of 18 teams will compete in the tournament this year, including the teams in the veterans division. MPL Port Club futsal tournament will see more that 300 players compete.

The tournament will conclude on 2nd February 2018.

 

New members appointed to MPL board

Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has appointed 4 new members to the board of Directors of MPL.

The newly appointed members to the MPL Board of Directors are:

With the changes to the board, MPL becomes the first company in the Maldives to have a majority of female board members in the board of directors.

Inaugural ceremony of “Hiyaa” Housing project held

Inaugural ceremony of the construction work for the proposed towers of MPL was held on Monday.

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, board members and several staff of MPL attended the ceremony held at the proposed construction site in Hulhumale’.

The proposed 3 towers is a project under “Hiyaa” project, an initiative by H.E.P Abdulla Yaamen Abdul Qayoom.

MPL will develop 3 towers, which will include 1 room studio apartments and 3 room apartments. More than 500 housing units will be available after the completion of the 3 towers.

 

MPL celebrates 31st anniversary

Special ceremony to celebrate the 31st anniversary of MPL was held on 11th December.

First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim was the chief guest of the ceremony held at MPL Yard.

In the ceremony the best staff from all divisions were selected. Also the service of long term employees was also recognized.

Several long term staff who retired in the past year were also recognized.

Entertainment items from the staff was also on show during the ceremony.

 

CEO receives warm welcome from staff

CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem returned to Male’ on Monday night to a warm welcome from staff of MPL.

CEO Haleem was been awarded “CEO of the Year – Infrastructure and Logistical Industry” at the 3rd South Asian Partnership Summit and Business Excellence Award held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Head of departments were at the airport to receive CEO Haleem from the airport and a welcome ceremony was organized at Male’ North Harbor.

MPL wins Presidents Futsal Cup title

Maldives Ports Limited won the Presidents Futsal Cup (Women’s) title after beating MNDF 3-2 in the final.

In the final match played at turf ground, MPL won the game by goals scored by Farah Ahmed and Fathimath Joozan Zareer.

Fathimath Shaliya and Aminath Shaamila and Fathimath Shazeema of MPL were named in the best 5 players of the touranment.

Chief guest of the final match First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim handed over the trophy to MPL.

CEO Haleem wins international award

CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem was been awarded “CEO of the Year – Infrastructure and Logistical Industry” at the 3rd South Asian Partnership Summit and Business Excellence Award.

In the Gala Event held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 29th October 2017, CEO Haleem collected the award, which is aimed at celebrating the work of outstanding business institutions and personnel in South Asian Region.

The South Asian Partnership Summit and Business Excellence Awards is organized by world HRD congress and endorsed by Asian Confederation of Business Council.

MPL offers free transportation service to people with special needs / disabilities

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has decided to offer free transport services for people with special needs and disabilities, in the areas in which MPL transportation services are in place.

This initiative is under the government’s efforts to provide convenient transportation services for citizens from around the country.

MPL provides public bus service in Addu, Fuvahmulah and Laamu Atoll. Ferry services are provided in Addu and Fuvahmulah.

To provide free transportation service to people with special needs and disabilities, MPL will open the registration process on 1ST November. Once the registration is complete, a card will be provided for the applicants and they will be eligible for free transportation service.

Transportation service is a CSR initiative of MPL. Senior Citizens and children under 2 years of age are already offered free transportation services.

MPL gives utmost importance to people with special needs and disabilities, to connect with government’s policy towards people with special needs and disabilities. MPL has already provided many job opportunities for people with special needs and disabilities.
