MPL and Uligan Council Sign Land Lease Agreement for Yacht Marina Development
Agreement facilitates the development of the Uligan Yacht Narina and associated infrastructure in HA.Uligan.
Malé, 23 August 2026 - Maldives Ports Limited and the HA. Uligan Island Council has signed a land lease agreement to facilitate the development and operation of a modern yacht marina in HA. Uligan.
The agreement was signed during a special ceremony held at the MPL Head Office by MPL Chief Executive Officer Captain Hussain Shafeeq and Uligan Island Council President Asadullah Mohamed.
Under the agreement, approximately 70,471 square meters of land will be leased to MPL for the development of the Uligan Yacht marina and associated infrastructure and facilities.
The project aims to enhance services for visiting yachts in Uligan while supporting the growth of tourism and commercial activities in the region. The planned marina will feature modern facilities and services, along with supporting infrastructure to accommodate yacht related activities.
The development is also expected to contribute to the expansion of the maritime economy in the northern region of the Maldives, supporting increased tourism activity, regional trade and economic development.
