Aminiya School Student Visit MPL for Field Trip Under Badhahi Program
As part of MPL’s Badhahi Program, students gain firsthand experience of port operations.
Malé, 31 May 2025 — As part of CSR's ongoing Badhahi program, a group of 50 students from Aminiya School visited the Malé Commercial Harbor to gain firsthand insight into the nation’s vital port operations.
The Badhahi program, a monthly CSR initiative by MPL, aims to introduce students to the maritime and logistics industry and raise awareness about the critical role ports play in national development and international trade.
The visit began with an introductory session where students were welcomed by MPL officials and briefed on the company’s core functions. Representatives from various departments presented overviews of their daily operations, explaining processes such as container tracking, vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and port logistics management.
Following the briefing, students were taken on a guided tour of the port facility. The tour provided a real-time glimpse into cargo operations, terminal activities, and the coordination required between teams to ensure efficient and timely handling of shipments. MPL staff explained the importance of operational precision, safety protocols, and planning in a fast-paced, high-risk environment. The students also gained awareness of the challenges faced by port workers, including the operation of heavy machinery, handling hazardous materials, and managing operations during adverse weather conditions.
The field trip proved to be both educational and inspiring for the students, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look into how essential goods are delivered across the Maldives. It also highlighted a range of career opportunities available within the maritime and logistics sectors.
MPL remains committed to fostering awareness and interest in the maritime industry among young people. Through the Badhahi program, the company continues to engage with schools across the country, building a foundation of knowledge that could shape the next generation of port professionals.
