Inspiring the Next Wave of Maritime Talent: MPL Hosts Maldives Polytechnic Students for International Youth Day 2025
In celebration of International Youth Day 2025, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) proudly welcomed over 40 bright and ambitious students from Maldives Polytechnic for an interactive Port Visit under our community outreach program, Badhahi.
The visit offered a unique window into how academic knowledge is applied in the dynamic, real-world environment of a working port. Students toured key operational areas, including our Powerhouse, Mechanical and Engineering Department, Marine Engineering Department, and Workshop, gaining firsthand exposure to the systems, machinery, and teamwork that power the nation’s gateway to trade.
To complement the field experience, a career guidance session was held at the Maldives Polytechnic Auditorium, facilitated by MPL’s Learning and Development Department. The session explored career pathways in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Marine Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Architecture
• Project Management
Through open discussion, students learned how theory transforms into technical expertise, how these disciplines keep port operations running smoothly, and how similar skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, and technical precision are vital for success in both MPL and across other sectors in the Maldives.
We extend our gratitude to Maldives Polytechnic for their collaboration in organizing this visit. Many of our apprenticeship program participants in the past have come through Maldives Polytechnic, and we remain committed to strengthening this collaboration to expand skill development and career readiness for young talent.
At MPL, we believe today’s youth are tomorrow’s industry leaders. Whether their future lies in the maritime sector or beyond, we are committed to building and supporting the next generation of professionals. In service of the nation, we stand alongside our youth, empowering them to learn, grow, and lead.
