Thilafushi Port Cargo Handling Facility

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) invites expressions of interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced contractors and financing partners for the development of a Cargo Handling Facility at Kaafu Thilafushi Island, Republic of Maldives. MPL is open to engaging with potential partners to explore flexible and innovative financing arrangements suited to the scale and scope of the project. This strategically significant project, separate from the Malé Port Relocation Project, is designed to enhance the national port infrastructure, expand handling capacity, and alleviate congestion at the existing Malé Commercial Harbor.     MPL is undertaking the development of a new cargo handling facility, comprising a 70m berth, 650m domestic quay, dedicated container yard, paved areas, essential ancillary services, and advanced cargo handling equipment. This initiative will consolidate vessel-borne cargo processing at the new facility, mitigating existing port congestion and supporting the increasing throughput demands of the Maldivian economy. The project's anticipated one-year completion will enhance the port's strategic importance within the regional maritime logistics network
