
Addu Regional Free Zone Officially Inaugurated
As part of the Government’s effort to establish free zones, Addu Regional Free Zone Officially Inaugurated
Addu City, 13 May 2026 – As part of the Government’s effort to establish free zones in the northern and southern regions of the Maldives, the “Addu Regional Free Zone” established in Addu City was officially inaugurated today.
The Addu regional Free Zone was Inaugurated by the Minister of Economic Development Transport and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, and the Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology, Ali Ihusan, during a ceremony held at Addu High School.
With the inauguration of the Addu Regional Free Zone, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has opened the opportunity for interested business to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for cargo storage and free zone related activities from 13th May 2026 until 11th June 2026.
