Expansion of Empty Container Depot Capacity in Thilafushi
Now accommodate 3,000 TEUs
Thilafushi, 28 March 2026 – As part of the efforts to resolve the space constraints faced by the Malé Commercial Harbor, the capacity of the "Empty Container Depot" established in Thilafushi for storing empty containers has now been increased.
The Empty Container Depot, established in September 2025, can now accommodate 3,000 TEUs.
The expansion of this depot's capacity will provide some relief to the space constraints currently affecting operations at the Malé Commercial Harbor and the Hulhumalé International Terminal.
