First Vessel calls at Ihavandhippolhu Atoll for UMS Services

The maritime industry in the Maldives reached a significant milestone today as the first vessel called at Ihavandhippolhu Atoll for OPL services, provided by Uthuru Maritime Services (UMS). The vessel, named "Jian Jie" and sailing under the Panama flag, was en route from Abu Dhabi to China when it made a stop in Ihavandhippolhu to take advantage of the newly established maritime services in the north. The crew of "Jian Jie" came ashore to HA. Uligam, where they received a warm welcome from local community members and officials, marking a historic moment for UMS and the region. The CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim; the Parliament member for the Horafushi constituency, Ali Moosa; and the President of Uligan Council, Ahmed Muaz Mohamed, were in attendance to welcome the crew. The crew members, along with the distinguished guests, participated in the opening of the "Seaman’s Rest" area in Uligan. This newly established space aims to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for seafarers stopping at Ihavandhippolhu. Maldives Ports Limited, along with other service partners, will provide a range of services to the "Jian Jie" vessel, including crew changes, provisions and water supply, garbage disposal, and the supply of spare parts. The vessel is expected to remain in Uligan for five days. Positioned near major international sea routes, Ihavandhippolhu is ideally situated to support vessels in need of stopover services, contributing to the development of the local economy and enhancing the region’s maritime significance. UMS currently provides over 14 maritime services. More details are available on the official website: https://ums.mv/services.
