Module 7 of Modern Port Management Course is Underway
This module focuses on the administrative and legal management of ports
Malé, 20th September 2025 – Module 7 of the UNCTAD TRAINFORTRADE Modern Port Management Course – Cycle 3 is currently in progress. This module places a strong emphasis on the administrative and legal management of ports, equipping participants with critical knowledge on governance structures, regulatory functions, liability frameworks, and estate development.
The sessions are led by international subject matter experts. Dr. Azmath Jaleel, Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University, delivered an insightful lecture on the regulatory role of port authorities, focusing on risk prevention and insurance mechanisms. Meanwhile, Mrs. Catherine Esto, Port Manager at the Philippine Ports Authority, is guiding participants through key topics such as the legal status and administrative responsibilities of port authorities, land management, estate development, and liability frameworks within the port sector.
This module provides participants with practical insights and global best practices, helping to build stronger foundations for effective and sustainable port management in the Maldives.
