MPL Records 6% Rise in TEU Clearances for July

A total of 6,320 TEUs

Malé, 07 August 2025 – Cargo handling at Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) saw a healthy boost in July, with a 6% increase in cleared containers compared to the previous month.

A total of 6,320 TEUs moved through MPL’s in July, up from 5,940 TEUs in June. This figure included 2,380 20-foot containers and 1,970 40-foot containers, reflecting continued demand for both general and perishable goods.

Port efficiency has been improving steadily, with faster clearance times compared to last year. MPL has been implementing measures to streamline cargo handling, aiming to ensure goods move quickly from port to market.

With consistent growth in container throughput and ongoing operational improvements, MPL remains focused on keeping the country’s supply chains moving smoothly, from the arrival of international shipments to the delivery of everyday essentials across the Maldives.
