Port Management Programme: Cycle 3 Participants Complete Module 5

Focus on Methods and Tools of Port Management strengthens practical knowledge and leadership capacity

Male’, 24 April 2025 – The TrainForTrade Port Management Programme (English-speaking network) reached a key milestone last week as Cycle 3 participants in the Maldives successfully completed Module 5: Methods and Tools of Port Management.

Hosted by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), the module was conducted from 20th to 24th April, offering participants critical insights into strategic planning, operational tools, port statistics, digital transformation, and innovation strategies in modern port management.

We were honored to have CAPT. RODIEN PACA, Ph. D, MBA (UK) as our guest lecturer. A seasoned global leader in ports, shipping, and logistics, Capt. Paca shared his expertise on smart port technologies and AI-driven innovations, inspiring participants to envision smarter, more resilient ports for the future.

Additionally, we were privileged to have two of our own experienced professionals share their expertise during the module:

Mr. Anil Adam, Governance & Development Consultant at MPL, taught Strategic Planning for Management, providing valuable insights into aligning port operations with long-term visions.

Mr. Abdulla Samir, Assistant General Manager of Technology and Digital Services at MPL, who led sessions on Digital Port Management, highlighting the transformative role of technology in creating smart, efficient ports.

Throughout the five-day training, participants engaged in real-world case studies, interactive discussions, and practical exercises designed to strengthen operational excellence and drive innovation at Maldives Ports Limited.

The successful completion of Module 5 reinforces MPL’s ongoing commitment to capacity building and continuous professional development, ensuring that we remain aligned with global standards and best practices in port management.

We extend our gratitude to Captain Paca, Mr. Anil Adam, Mr. Abdulla Samir, and all those who contributed to making this module successful. We look forward to continuing this journey toward excellence with the TrainForTrade program and our partners.
