Port Training Center Celebrates Successful Academic Year 2025

Students, Interns, and Maritime Professionals Recognized for Excellence and Achievement

Malé, 15 December 2025 – Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) hosted the Port Training Centre’s Academic Year End Ceremony 2025 at Meeruma Event Hall, celebrating the achievements of students, interns, and maritime professionals over the past year. The event highlighted MPL’s commitment to maritime education, professional development, and capacity-building initiatives.

Chief Learning & Development Officer Aishath Shimla opened the ceremony with welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and development in the maritime sector.
Certificates for the Port Operations Program were presented by Captain Mohamed Zaid, Dean of the Centre for Maritime Studies, Maldives National University (MNU), recognizing students’ successful completion of the program.

Special recognition was given to Mohamed Yaeesh Ali for excellence in the Certificate I in Port Security, awarded by Maldives State Shipping Deputy Managing Director Captain Ahmed Zubair.
MPL Internship certificates were awarded to eight participants by Deputy Vice-Chancellor of MNU, Abdul Rahman Mubaarique, acknowledging their dedication and hands on learning experience.

UNCTAD Modern Port Management Cycle 3 participants received certificates from UNCTAD Chief of Human Resources Development, Mr. Mark Assaf, celebrating their successful completion of an internationally recognized capacity building program.

The Best Dissertation Award, Best All-Round Award, and WMU Scholarship Award were presented by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, recognizing outstanding academic excellence and leadership potential.

Mr. Assaf highlighted the value of global collaboration and professional development, while Minister Saeed stressed the vital role of human capital in strengthening the Maldives’ port and maritime sector.

The ceremony concluded with reflections from UNCTAD participant Aishath Ali and project showcases from MPL interns, demonstrating practical learning, innovation, and workplace readiness.

The event underscores MPL’s dedication to nurturing maritime talent and advancing professional expertise to support the growth and resilience of the nation’s ports and logistics sector.
